Case Study

From Internal Prototype to Industry-Leading SaaS Platform

Listernaut was founded with a clear competitive thesis: the warehouse cataloging and e-commerce listing industry needed software that was faster, more connected, and built for the real operational demands of high-volume sellers. They had a working internal prototype. What they needed was a production-grade platform built to sell.

The Situation

Listernaut's internal tool had proven the concept — it reduced bottlenecks and improved listing speed for their partner company, Rocket Auctions. But an internal tool and a commercial SaaS product are fundamentally different things. The platform lacked the user experience, monetization infrastructure, and integration depth required to compete in the market.

Their target customer base split across two distinct use cases: Shopify-centric e-commerce sellers and auction-platform-focused liquidators. The platform needed to serve both without compromising either.

The Challenge

The technical requirements were demanding:

  • 99%+ uptime with minimal developer overhead
  • Average "Scan to List" time of 30 seconds or less
  • Custom integrations with 23 unique auction platforms
  • Tight Shopify integration including subscription management via Shopify's Billing API
  • A subscription-based data warehouse to support licensed platform usage
  • Enterprise-grade inventory management tracking 20+ data points per SKU

Skillcape Software delivered this engagement as primary subcontractor for network partner Cloud Code Systems, coordinating software architecture and development with their deep domain expertise in auction and e-commerce operations.

What We Built

We architected and developed Listernaut on Microsoft's Blazor WASM and .NET Core stack, hosted on Azure. The platform launched with plug-and-play integrations for 23 auction platforms, a tightly coupled Shopify integration for one-click listing operations, and a subscription management layer built on Shopify's Billing API.

The Azure hosting foundation exceeded the 99% uptime requirement from day one and provides efficient disaster recovery options as the platform scales.

The Outcome

Listernaut launched as a competitive platform and has since grown to become the recognized leader in their industry.

99%+ uptime met and sustained in production
30-second average Scan to List time achieved
23 auction platform integrations live at launch
Platform now expanding to include AI-generated product details and Listing-as-a-Service offerings
